Captain of the Windlord
“There’s something strange and unearthly about this man’s appearance. Tall and well-muscled, this striking figure is skin of brightest blue, like a cloudless summer day. His hair, deep navy blue where it curls on his chin, is mostly bound in an extravagant turban. Dressed like a court eunuch and bearing a magnificent scimitar, he appears to be a human disguised as a dragonborn noble but there’s something mystical that hangs about him. A cooling breeze is never far, flapping his clothing dramatically and his eyes smolder like unearthly blue coals. There is much more to this mortal than meets the eye.”
Once a djinn lord in Auros, the Elemental Plane of Air, Latif’nazeem’nahal’yusafa’daqat got into a spot of trouble when he, in his cups, attempted to steal the caliph’s sun chariot. Following the resulting drunken disaster, he was banned, forever, from the Elemental Plane of Air. Taking his exile on the Material Plane, he swept up a ship – the Taranyar, a dragonborn treasure galley – and planted it atop a mountain peak on Leviathan Rest. There, he whiled away 500 years of exile, wooing several pirate crews to seek the treasure and enjoy his company until they died of old age.
It was when the Dragon Turtle’s crew visited Latif, seeking the bone fragment left behind by Captain Ilisa, that they convinced him to abandon his perch. Indeed, they managed to convince the vain and frivolous djinn to take up a career in piracy. Now seeking a vessel he intends to name the Windlord, Latif has adopted a human guise and is hiring crew in Bonesburg to seek this new path.
